Our Sourcing Story

Before relaunching Sunsets & Savannas, I knew I wanted to create something unique — something that reflected my personal style and love for treasure hunting. I’d always gravitated toward one-of-a-kind western pieces, and I was constantly asked where I found them. That’s when I realized there was a huge gap in the vintage and thrift resale market. Most of what’s out there leans heavily toward streetwear, often at prices that make it inaccessible for many. On top of that, the western vintage scene is nearly non-existent — surprising, considering that western wear has been trending in recent years and continues to climb in price.

For those of us living and working in agriculture or western lifestyle industries, sustainability and well-made goods have always been part of the culture. And we all know — they just don’t make things like they used to. This mix of personal passion and business insight pushed me to do some research, and eventually, I reached out to a raghouse in British Columbia.

A raghouse is a place that receives thousands of pounds of clothing every day — all destined for landfill. These pieces can be excess stock, unsold inventory from overpriced thrift stores, donation bin rejects, and more. When I got the green light to place an order, I was both thrilled and slightly nervous about what I’d just committed to.

Two months later, 100 pounds of clothing arrived at my door. I sorted through every piece, pulling items that fit the heart of S & S. To guide the raghouse, I’d shared Pinterest boards and style references, and they filled my order with items that perfectly captured the vision for my first launch. Alongside these handpicked finds, I also collect special pieces during my travels — the kinds of things I know someone out there will truly love.

S & S is here to deliver exactly what the world is missing: sustainable, affordable, and unique vintage pieces. Every find is rescued from waste, thoughtfully curated, and given a second life — ready to become part of your story next.
